If you need to commute to Portland for work or just want to be nearby for amenities but want more value for your money, consider Lewiston and Auburn. These twin cities offer affordable housing, a strong sense of community, and are within commuting distance of Portland. You can enjoy many amenities right in Lewiston/Auburn and will also have easy access to Portland while living in a more budget-friendly environment.
Affordable Alternative: Bangor
If you don’t need to be in commuting distance to Portland, and you seek city amenities without the high price tag, Bangor is an excellent choice.
